Virtual Private Servers for Your Business Website
VPS = Great for ECommerce
An eCommerce Website has certain requirements that are less important for other websites. Chief among these is security - after all, your eCommerce website will be accepting and processing credit card and other important personal information.
While it is possible to set up an eCommerce website on a shared hosting account, the very nature of shared hosting makes these less secure. There are other websites hosted on that machine, and you have no control over what those other websites may be doing, or how secure they may be.
Usually, a dedicated server is used for eCommerce websites - with a dedicated server you have full control over the server and no other websites are hosted on the server (unless you want them). But dedicated servers are generally more expensive than shared hosting plans. If you're interested in a dedicated server, we have years of experience with eCommerce hosting on dedicated servers.
A Virtual Private Server has many of the same advantages of a dedicated server at a cheaper price - making them great for eCommerce. The virtualization that allows multiple virtual servers to run on a machine means that one virtual server cannot affect the others - another virtual server on your machine could crash and it would have no effect on your virtual server at all.
